A Supreme Court ruling clears a path for the White House to strip legal protections from more than half a million migrants. CBS News New York’s Ali Bauman has been reporting on the new detention tactics of federal immigration agents and spoke to lawyers who say this decision may allow ICE to arrest more people at their court hearings.

The Supreme Court on Friday allowed President Donald Trump’s administration to suspend a Biden-era humanitarian parole program that allowed half a million immigrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela to temporarily live and work in the United States.

Outside of court, President Donald Trump and his top aides depict deportees as terrorists and gang leaders regardless of whether they’ve been convicted of a crime. They admit no mistakes. And if judges rule unfavorably, they denounce them as “ communists ” and “lunatics” and suggest that they won’t respect their rulings.

Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, in a scathing disssent, called out the rest of the court for allowing Trump’s harmful executive order to stand.

Over 400,000 immigrants are in Florida through a program known as humanitarian parole. The May 30 ruling puts them all at risk of deportation.
