Connecticut State Senator Tony Hwang has launched a campaign to become Fairfield’s first selectman. First, he’ll need to collect signatures to force a special election.

The Connecticut Lottery player was one of eight Powerball players across the nation to win a prize totaling over $100,000 following the drawing, according to Powerball. The player initially won $50,000, and $50,000 was added to their winnings due to a Power Play. The odds of winning were one in over 913,000, according to the Powerball odds page.

Rock-star status has found the Fairfield Little Leaguers, but they are unfazed and unbeaten so far at the Little League World Series.

Tony Hwang, a Republican, currently serves as state senator for the 28th District, which includes Fairfield as well as Bethel, Easton and Newtown.
