We’re nearing the end of awards week for the Baseball Writers’ Association of America’s four-highest honors that are handed out after every baseball season.The third was announced last night as Paul Skenes was unanimously named the Cy Young Award winner in the National League.

Well, Skubal played the part, becoming the first repeat winner since Jacob deGrom in 2018-2019, and the first in the AL since Pedro Martinez in 1999-2000. Chris Sale, though, hurt his ribs making a diving play and was therefore not really in the running.

The American League Cy Young award winner for 2025 is Detroit Tigers left-hander Tarik Skubal .

Below are point totals for the balloting for the 2025 Cy Young Award, as voted on by members of the Baseball Writers' Association of America. Ballots for each award were submitted before the start of the postseason from two writers in every city,

From its inception in 1956 until 1966, the Cy Young Award was given annually to the best pitcher in Major League Baseball. Since then, the award has been presented every season to the best pitcher in each league -- American League and National League.

Yamamoto’s finish is the highest by a Dodgers pitcher since Julio Urias finished third in 2022. The voting took place before Yamamoto’s outstanding postseason performance.

Orioles pitcher Trevor Rogers received only one fifth-place vote for the AL Cy Young Award and finished tied for ninth.

San Francisco Giants ace Logan Webb finished fourth in National League Cy Young award voting, just missing the finalist bracket despite leading the NL in key statistical categories.
