France's military took part in efforts to stop Iranian drones targeting Israel prior to this week's ceasefire, the country's defence minister Sebastien Lecornu said late on Wednesday.

France conveyed to Iran the terms of a US-proposed ceasefire with Israel at the request of Washington in the hours leading up to the truce, a French diplomatic source said Wednesday.

More than 100 French citizens were evacuated from Israel to Cyprus on Tuesday after being stranded there as the war with Iran broke out. Close to 100 Indonesian nationals in Iran were also successfully repatriated as Jakarta plans to carry out further evacuation missions.
