Rockstar delays GTA 6 again, igniting a wave of memes and frustration from fans awaiting the long-anticipated 2026 release.
YouTuber Darren Jason Watkins Jr., better known as IShowSpeed, is upset about the delay of GTA 6. Recently, the release date for the highly anticipated online game was pushed back again, leaving him disappointed.
Rockstar's delay for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S also means the inevitable PC edition, which hasn't been announced, could come even later.
Despite fan speculation linking Rockstar’s recent layoffs to the second GTA 6 delay, the timing appears to have a much simpler explanation.

Speaking to IGN shortly after the announcement (and the stock drop), the executive said the decision to delay the game was “the right call”, emphasizing that it’s ultimately for the game’s own good (and, of course, for the community’s expectations).
Grand Theft Auto VI was originally announced for a fall 2025 release, which CEO Strauss Zelnick said he felt confident in even amid speculation of a delay. The game was then delayed to May of 2026, with Rockstar citing a need for extra time to "to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve."
