According to WBAL-TV's Greg Ng, 1/ST Executive Vice President Mike Rogers said Tuesday that he was informed by trainer Bill Mott that Sovereignty will not run in the upcoming Preakness Stakes. Last weekend, Sovereignty beat out Journalism to win the 151st running of the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky.

Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty is not running in the Preakness Stakes and that means for a fifth time in the past seven years there is no chance of a Triple Crown champion going into the race

This is the fourth time since Justify won all three races in 2018 that the Preakness will go on without a true shot at a Triple Crown.
