The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms in 66 areas of England and Wales for today with the alert in place from 9am to 6pm on June 7

The Met Office has issued several thunderstorm warnings covering swathes of the UK on Saturday, with rain set to drench several cities. The yellow warnings state: "Frequent heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected for much of Saturday before fading from the west during the mid to late afternoon.

While there are no official weather warnings, the north east is likely to see some thunder too, according to their forecast for the day: "Some outbreaks of rain for the early morning, changing to a mix of sunshine and showers, potentially heavy at times with a risk of thunder."
