Arsenal are working to complete a deal to sign Valencia centre-back Cristhian Mosquera. Personal terms are in place with the 21-year-old and the two clubs are close to reaching an agreement. The Athletic previously reported that the north London side were working on a deal to sign Mosquera with a defensive signing a priority this summer.

Arsenal have signed Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard in recent weeks, while Noni Madueke is also set to join the Gunners. Arguably the highest priority for Arsenal is a new centre-forward, and Viktor Gyokeres is currently in pole position for the role.

Viktor Gyokeres has already revealed how Arsenal managed to convince him to join. The Sporting striker has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium for a while now as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his frontline.

While his exact role under Arteta hasn’t yet been ironed out, Heinze is joining an esteemed coaching team that also includes the Spaniard’s right-hand man, Albert Stuivenberg, set-piece coach Nicolas Jover, and goalkeeper coach Iñaki Caña.
