Netflix has had a strong year for awards season elsewhere this year. For the Emmys, it received 107 nominations across 35 titles, winning 24 awards. At the Golden Globes, it received 36 nominations and won 7 awards. Most recently, Netflix earned 15 BAFTA film nominations, with winners yet to be announced.

The Oscar nominations are out after being delayed by the California wildfires, and the musical crime thriller "Emilia Pérez" leads the field.

Streaming service Netflix garnered 16 film nominations (mostly for "Emilia Pérez"), more than any other studio or streamer. But Universal Pictures and its Focus Features sister unit weren't far behind.

Currently, the only way you can watch The Brutalist is by heading to the theater. There's no official digital or streaming release date, but we'll update this list once the date is released. As an A24 film, we do expect it to eventually make its way to Max alongside other A24 theatrical releases.

The academy's tradition of hewing to a straight line gloriously broke form by making the transfixing Gascón the first openly trans actor to receive an Oscar nomination. Gascón may have a tough time beating comeback queen Demi Moore ("The Substance") in the race for Oscar gold, but it will be a blast watching her try.
