The U.S. State Department said on Sunday Washington was in touch with both India and Pakistan while urging them to work towards what it called a "responsible solution" as tensions have risen between the two Asian nations following a recent Islamist militant attack in Kashmir.

India has yet to present clear evidence of who conducted the attack on April 22nd that killed 26 mostly Hindu men in Pahalgam, a popular tourist spot in the Muslim-majority region. But local police are searching for two Pakistani suspects and one Indian.

The US has called on India and Pakistan to pursue a responsible solution amid escalating tensions after a deadly militant attack in Kashmir. Washington remains engaged with both nations, urging dialogue and restraint.
