Wu blasted a letter from US Attorney General Pam Bondi renewing the Trump administration’s demand that Boston end policies the president views as impeding federal immigration enforcement efforts.

In a letter responding to Bondi's threats to withhold federal funding from alleged "sanctuary" locations, Wu said Boston law enforcement routinely cooperates with federal authorities on criminal matters.

"Boston will never back down from being a beacon of freedom, and a home for everyone," Boston Mayor Michelle Wu wrote in her response to the sanctuary city deadline.
