A South Lake Tahoe resident has tested positive for plague, according to health officials in El Dorado County.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, California (KOLO) - A South Lake Tahoe resident has tested positive for the plague. El Dorado County health officials say the unidentified resident is under the care of a medical professional and is recovering at home.

It's the first confirmed case of the plague—the same disease that wiped out millions in the 14th century—in the region since 2020.
