Austinites may soon be able to hop in a Tesla robotaxi, as Elon Musk's electric vehicle maker targets a possible June 12 launch and has already started testing its driverless Model Y vehicles in the city.

City officials say they're unaware of Tesla's plans to roll out self-driving taxis in Texas, according to reports.

Updated on May 28 at 6:55 p.m. ET: On Wednesday, May 28, Bloomberg reported that Tesla will now be launching its robotaxi service in Austin on June 12.
