U.S. stock indexes are drifting lower in morning trading Tuesday as Wall Street closes out another milestone-shattering year of gains. The S&P 500 gave up an early gain and was down less than 0.1%. The benchmark index is coming off back-to-back declines of more than 1%.

Investors head into the new year believing the economy on a firm footing. That wasn’t the case at the start of 2024, when even the most bullish analysts underestimated the strength of the market.

Wall Street analysts are overwhelmingly bullish on potential stock-split stock MercadoLibre; the median 12-month target price implies 35% upside. MercadoLibre operates the largest e-commerce marketplace in Latin America and is the largest retail media advertising company in the region.
