The official state funeral in Washington, DC for former President Jimmy Carter will be held on January 9, the White House confirmed Monday.

Jimmy Carter, who died on Sunday, Dec. 29 at age 100, is currently lying in repose at the Carter Presidential Center in Atlanta, where he will remain until 6 a.m. local time on Tuesday, Jan. 7. Carter's funeral proceedings will take place over multiple days,
