Anubis - Egyptian God of Death and the Afterlife
With the head of a jackal and the power to weigh souls, Anubis ruled over death in ancient Egypt. But the truth of his origins is more complex than legend suggests.
Anubis is usually depicted as a man with the head of a jackal – hence his alternative name in American Gods. In the series he partners with Mr Ibis, or Thoth – the Egyptian god of writing and wisdom.
