Israeli drone strikes on a southern suburb of Damascus have killed six soldiers and wounded others, according to Syrian state media and a war monitor.

Six Syrian army personnel were killed Tuesday in Israeli drone strikes near the city of al-Kiswah south of Damascus, Syria’s state-run Al-Ikhbariya TV reported. The broadcaster said Israeli drones targeted Syrian army positions in the Damascus countryside.

Israeli forces bombed tents sheltering displaced families in Khan Yunis and Gaza City, while starvation claimed ten more lives.

Syria said on Monday that Israel had sent 60 soldiers into its territory near Mount Hermon in a violation of its sovereignty, while the Israeli military said its troops carried out a routine operation in southern Syria but not in Beit Jinn, an area close to the border with Lebanon and near Mount Hermon.

Israel’s Defense Ministry says it is buying drones from local provider Xtend to equip ground forces. The move, the government says, also aims to strengthen the country’s defense industrial base.
