Again- this is also not a blockbuster big snowstorm by Michigan standards. It’s a solid one to three inch snow, with some isolated four inch amounts. After the initial snowfall stops midday Wednesday, lower Michigan will continue with bursts of meaningful snow showers into Thursday.

Snow squalls in Michigan: What to know about these dangerous weather events
A Snow Squall Warning is in effect until noon Jan. 19 for Livingston, Oakland, Wayne, and Washtenaw counties. Bursts of snow cause whiteout conditions. There are typically gusty winds as well, leading to limited visibility. This is a snow squall.
In the Lower Peninsula, winter storm warnings are in place for the entire Lake Michigan shoreline, including Berry, Van Buren, Allegan, Kent, Ottawa, Muskegon, Oceana, Mason, Newaygo, Lake, Manistee, Wexford, Missaukee, Grand Traverse, Leelaneau, Antrim, Otsego and Emmet counties.

Southeast Michigan is seeing a round of school closures for Tuesday, Jan. 20, the third time in a week due to winter weather.
DETROIT – Snow is returning to Metro Detroit on Wednesday, moving in overnight and affecting the morning commute. The Detroit National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory that will be in effect from 3 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday for our area.
