Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele has criticized his Venezuelan counterpart's rejection of a swap that would see Venezuelan deportees from the United States detained in El Salvador exchanged for what he said were “political prisoners” in Venezuela.

Nayib Bukele, the president of El Salvador, recently offered to free Venezuelans deported by President Donald Trump in exchange for "political prisoners."

Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele proposed a prisoner swap to Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Sunday that involves the over 200 suspected Tren de Aragua gang members deported by the United States in March.
