Teddy Bridgewater’s journey in the NFL as a player is not yet over. The former NFL draft first-round pick has come out of retirement to return to the Detroit Lions, the last team he played for in the pros before announcing his retirement in 2023.

Detroit has spent the season with Hendon Hooker as Goff's backup, with Jake Fromm on the practice squad as the Lions' emergency quarterback. Hooker, a third-round pick out of Tennessee in 2023, has never made an NFL start and has only thrown nine regular-season passes. Fromm made two starts with the Giants in 2021 but didn't show any promise.

Former Lions quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is signing with the Detroit Lions, which coach Dan Campbell confirmed Thursday. The NFL Network first reported the impending transaction.
