After a nearly decade-long retirement, Ronda Rousey is coming back to MMA. The former UFC bantamweight champion announced her return in a statement to ESPN on Tuesday, February 17, revealing she will square off against fellow retired legend Gina Carano in May.
More MMA bouts will be added to the May event in the coming weeks, MVP said. The live broadcast will also mark Netflix's first MMA event.
EliteXC: Destiny on this day in 2007 saw her face off with a fellow pioneer in fighter turned Invicta FC commentator and matchmaker Julie Kedzie. Their matchup became the first ever women’s MMA bout to be seen live on television due to the main card airing via Showtime.
