Several former Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials told Newsweek they are opposed to the White House’s plan to install Border Patrol leaders in ICE field offices, warning the move could shift the agency from targeted interior enforcement toward a more forceful approach.

Federal officials said an arrest was made in connection with the shooting at Border Patrol officers in Little Village on Saturday.

Two incidents of alleged shots fired at Border Patrol agents are under investigation, Univsion reports. Both incidents occurred on Nov. 6 on the border.

The pursuit began in Ventura County around 10:55 a.m. and continued across the 118, 405, and 5 freeways, with the minivan exceeding 80 mph.

The possible moves suggest that despite efforts to arrest immigrants en masse, the administration believes ICE isn’t being aggressive enough.
