Domino's Pizza fell short of Wall Street estimates for third-quarter U.S. comparable sales growth on Thursday as restaurant operators intensified their pursuit for price-conscious customers by doubling down on value offers.

Domino’s Pizza Inc.’s stock fell slightly early Thursday, after the chain’s fiscal third-quarter profit beat was not enough to offset a slight revenue miss in a still challenging consumer environment and small downward revision to sales guidance.

Even so, Domino’s growth remains relatively robust versus competitors including Papa John’s International Inc. and Pizza Hut, which is owned by Yum! Brands Inc. Both of those pizza chains have posted same-store sales declines in recent quarters, with analysts expecting that trend to continue in the third quarter.

Domino's Pizza ( NYSE: DPZ) slipped in early trading after falling slightly short of revenue estimates with its Q3 earnings report and setting cautious guidance.

European shares closed lower today. The eurozone's STOXX 600 slipped 0.18%, Germany's DAX slipped 0.23% and France's CAC 40 fell 0.24%. Spain's IBEX 35 Index fell 0.72%, while London's FTSE 100 fell 0.07%.
