A federal judge has extended an injunction on the Trump Administration's attempt to halt Harvard's student visa program.
Harvard University held its commencement ceremony today as a federal district judge said she will issue a preliminary injunction blocking the Trump administration from making changes to Harvard’s student visa program indefinitely.
Harvard has requested a preliminary injunction that would prohibit the Department of Homeland Security from revoking the school’s ability to enroll international students under the visa programs.
Beijing said the decision to “aggressively” revoke Chinese student visas would “damage the image and reputation of the U.S.”
If the Trump administration succeeds in barring international students from enrolling at Harvard, it will benefit U.S. competitors such as China, experts say.
On the same day the Trump administration asked federal agencies to cut contracts with Harvard University, dozens of students gathered for a rally in support of their international classmates.
