A shocking turn in the case of a Burnet County, Texas, church, where shots rang out on Sunday, has seen a member of the congregation's safety team arrested. The incident began after 45-year-old Jacob Wayne Tarver,

"We weren't aware any more than they were aware at the time that this story was not true," said Kyle Byrd, Church at the Epicenter Senior Leader.

Tarver is charged with misdemeanor false report to induce an emergency response, felony tampering or fabricating physical evidence and felony deadly conduct. He remains in the Burnet County Jail and has not had a bond set.

On Oct. 6, deputies arrived to Church at the Epicenter in Burnet after getting a brief 911 call, according to the Burnet County Sheriff’s Office. Upon arrival, deputies said a safety member told them two “suspicious” men were outside the church, and one had shown a rifle.

The Burnet County Sheriff’s Office says on Oct. 6, at around 10:30 a.m., deputies were sent to the Church at the Epicenter in reference to a welfare check after an unknown 911 call.
