HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The 27th annual Shinnyo Lantern Floating Hawaii drew tens of thousands to Ala Moana Beach Park on Memorial day. The theme of many rivers one ocean is symbolic of both the lanterns and the water they float on. But it also represents the people in attendance as visitors from near and far came to honor lost loved ones.

Memorial Day is on May 26, and the holiday is sure to bring closures to the island. All City and County of Honolulu offices will be closed on Memorial Day, with essential operations adjusting their schedule as seen fit.
