It's one thing for the Virginia Tech Hokies to blast Metallica‘s "Enter Sandman" as the football team's game-day hype song when they take the field at Lane Stadium for home games. It's quite another thing for the band to play the song on the team's home field for the first time in front of a sold-out crowd primed to set things off.

There are many great entrances in college football, but few are as electric or as loud as Virginia Tech running out to Metallica's "Enter Sandman" for a big game (especially at night).

Metallica visited Blacksburg on Wednesday night for a stop on the M72 World Tour, taking the stage after openers Pantera and Suicidal Tendencies. And the iconic metal band finally brought their song "Enter Sandman" -- the Hokies' football team entrance song since 2000 -- in front of this dedicated fan base.
