Hendrick Motorsports still opened the season by making a statement, as teammate Bodine and the No. 5 out “fuel-mileaged” the legendary Dale Earnhardt to win the organization’s first DAYTONA 500. It was also Mr. Hendrick’s first of now 10 triumphs (to date) in the “Great American Race” and served as an early notice to the rest of the sport.

Ryan Preece is on the pole for the NASCAR race tomorrow at Richmond Raceway. Right behind in the Cook Out 400 is Tyler Reddick, followed by AJ Allmendinger (third), Denny Hamlin (fourth) and Chase Elliott (fifth). Kyle Larson is starting 30th in the NASCAR starting grid on Saturday for the Cook Out 400 at Richmond.

NASCAR also released the 2026 O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and Craftsman Truck Series schedules Wednesday. North Wilkesboro, which last hosted a points race in 1996, has been the site of the All-Star Race the past three seasons. Competitors said in May they wanted to see the historic track host a points race again.

Chase Elliott's first DNF of the season means he's out of the running for Regular Season Champion. After a clean first stage of racing in the penultimate race of the NASCAR Cup Series regular season at Richmond Raceway, three close cautions snowballed into a crash that collected 13 drivers.

Freddie Kraft, the spotter for Bubba Wallace, was not too bummed out about the No. 23 Toyota losing a wheel on pit road at Richmond. On the Door Bumper Clear podcast, Kraft reacted to the incident that happened during the final stage of the NASCAR Cup Series race.
