By finishing second in this year’s MVP balloting behind only Oklahoma City's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Nikola Jokic — the Denver Nuggets star — became just the third player in NBA history with a top-two finish in five or more consecutive seasons.

StatMuse revealed that following the MVP voting results in 2025, Jokic did something only Boston Celtics legend Larry Bird has done in the history of the NBA. They revealed that Jokic joined Bird as the only two players to finish in top two for NBA MVP voting in a half-decade.

Despite stamping himself as the third player and first center in NBA history to average a triple-double in a season, Jokic fell short of a fourth career MVP trophy, the league announced Wednesday. The 30-year-old Nuggets big man was voted runner-up to Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who won the award for the first time.
