"Dad," Lauren Macuga said, "I won." She was speaking minutes after her first Alpine skiing World Cup victory, a super-G in St. Anton, Austria. A year earlier, the best finish of Lauren's budding career had been 17th.

Macuga took advantage of improving visibility to make the podium for the first time ahead of Stephanie Venier and Federica Brignone, as Vonn improved on her Saturday downhill sixth.

No one was faster down the steep middle section of the course than Vonn, 40, making the third appearance of her surprising comeback.
