The Colorado Avalanche Information Center is reminding skiers that the potential for avalanches remains high in some areas after a skier was injured on Saturday.
At least five backcountry explorers have been caught in avalanches in Colorado’s mountains since Friday, two of whom were injured, according to state reports.

The National Avalanche Center, operated by the U.S. Forest Service, reports five people have been killed so far this winter season. The tally includes the fatalities in Washington, as well as two in California on Dec. 26 and Jan. 5, and one in Wyoming on Dec. 20.
