The Smith County sheriff said a suspect, who was wanted for multiple sex-related crimes, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Sheriff Joel Houston said he was coordinating with the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force to serve an arrest warrant on the suspect just outside of the Taylorsville area around 9:00

Officers attempted to make negotiations, but the situation resulted in the suspect sustaining a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The suspect was pronounced dead on the scene. The name of the suspect is being withheld until next of kin is notified.

According to the Sheriff, the warrant was issued in connection with multiple sex-related crimes involving a minor.
