Austin city council voted to move forward with committing $104 million to the Texas Department of Transportation for the roadway elements of caps and stitches over TxDOT's I-35 project.

The vote came after weeks of rare infighting among the 11-member council about how to proceed with the long-coveted project

On an 8-2 vote, the city council approved an amended proposal that commits $104 million for four sections of caps and stitches to be built over I-35.
