South Carolina authorities are investigating a law enforcement shootout that led to the death of a man believed to have fired multiple gunshots at a police officer.
Sheriff Hobart Lewis said a man approached an officer who was sitting in his patrol car around 1 a.m. Sunday and opened fire.
