Syria is set to sign a deal to import electricity from Turkey through a 400-kilovolt transmission line between the two countries "soon", the Syrian state news agency cited the country's energy minister as saying on Sunday.

President Donald Trump has hinted at easing long-standing U.S. sanctions on Syria, citing new overtures from Syrian leader Sharaa and a potential “fresh start.” Sharaa is offering U.S. companies access to valuable minerals in a Ukraine-style deal and has even floated the idea of a Trump Tower in Damascus.
