The very first review of Metaphor: ReFantazio is in, and it's glowing. Long-running Japanese magazine Famitsu has awarded the upcoming JRPG a 37/40. That's the exact same score it gave Persona 5 Royal back in 2019, so it looks like the Persona veterans behind it all are keeping up their impressive pedigree.

First up, Atlus' much-anticipated fantasy RPG, Metaphor: ReFantazio, earns itself a 37/40, with the panel of four awarding three 9s and a 10. Meanwhile, the Silent Hill 2 remake, developed by Bloober Team, also earns itself a high rating of 35/40 (three 9s and an 8).

ReFantazio JRPG is going to be one of the longer RPGs, clocking at 80 hours to complete, or 100 hours for completionists.

Metaphor: ReFantazio's Prologue demo normally takes around five hours to complete since it only offers up the mammoth game's opening slice, but that hasn't stopped some players from clocking in the equivalent of another JRPG's entire runtime.
