A fter a down year for the 2024 NBA rookie class, during which second-rounder Bronny James was the most anticipated draft pick to play in the NBA summer league in Las Vegas, the excitement was back earlier this month as No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg and other top selections from the touted 2025 class took the court with their new teams.
Fears, the No. 7 overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft, netted 22 points for the New Orleans Pelicans in Las Vegas. Cody Williams, the 10th overall selection in 2024, also shined with 26 points for the Utah Jazz. Jeremiah Fears ended his Summer League slate on a high with 22 points in a defeat to the Indiana Pacers.
Bronny James did not play Friday night in the Los Angeles Lakers ' NBA Summer League game against the Denver Nuggets. James, a second-round pick in 2024, was seen on the court pregame wearing sweats and a hoodie. Teammate Dalton Knecht, the Lakers' first-round pick in 2024, was also out.

At Duke, Flagg averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists and earned ACC Player of the Year honors while leading the Blue Devils to the Final Four. He also won the Wooden and Naismith Player of the Year awards and was an All-American.

While Flagg looked good with the ball in his hands, he looked better playing off it, and that will be more of his role in Dallas where D’Angelo Russell in the short term and Kyrie Irving long term (once healthy), not to mention Anthony Davis, will facilitate the offense most of the time.
Chris Manon led the Warriors with 14 points and nine rebounds, while Toronto’s first-round pick Collin Murray-Boyles led the Raptos with 20 points. Golden State will play a fifth and final Summer League game against the Cavaliers on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
