The Ogunquit Fire Department says a 6-to-8-foot great white shark was spotted approximately 200 yards off Little Beach.

A new great white shark sighting off a southern Maine beach prompted local officials to issue a warning Tuesday afternoon.

Lifeguards raised a yellow flag as a precaution following the credible report, the Ogunquit Fire Department said.

The Ogunquit Fire Department says a 6- to 8-foot great white was seen off Little Beach, near the mouth of the Ogunquit River.
