WASHINGTON (AP) — The Senate slogged through a tense overnight session that dragged into Tuesday, with Republican leaders searching for ways to secure support for President Donald Trump’s big bill of tax breaks and spending cuts while fending off proposed amendments, mostly from Democrats trying to defeat the package.

The Senate worked through the night on President Donald Trump’s $3.3 trillion tax and spending package, with Republican leaders still negotiating with key GOP holdouts into the morning as lawmakers neared a vote expected Tuesday.

Debate is underway in the Senate for an all-night session Sunday, with Republicans wrestling President Donald Trump’s big bill of tax breaks and spending cuts over mounting Democratic opposition — and even some brake-pumping over the budget slashing by the president himself.

Musk, who supported Trump’s campaign and also served as an adviser to the White House, has criticized the tax and spending bill the president is pushing.

President Donald Trump and Elon Musk are still feuding, much to the chagrin of Tesla investors. Tesla stock dropped as much as 8% on Tuesday as traders digested a new Truth Social post from Trump, which highlighted how much assistance Musk has gotten from the US government.
