The European Commission on Thursday proposed countermeasures on up to 95 billion euros ($107.2 billion) of U.S. imports if negotiations with Washington fail to remove the series of tariffs applied by U.

Trump's tariffs are expected to drive up prices on electronics, furniture, and appliances, prompting some consumers to shop early before increases take effect.

President Trump’s new tariffs are kicking in across the economy, raising costs for many importers and manufacturers. The levies include a 10%, across-the-board tariff on imports from nearly every country,

Brussels has threatened tariffs on €95bn of US exports, including cars and vehicle parts, if talks with Washington fail to end their trade conflict. The EU’s retaliation proposals would probably take effect in July, if the European Commission makes insufficient progress in persuading the US to lift tariffs on €380bn of EU exports.

The bloc said it could target more than $100 billion worth of American products with tariffs if negotiations with the U.S. break down.
