A special ceremony took place on the campus of Savannah State University Tuesday morning as leaders dedicated a new residence hall in memory of Melvin Bostic. Bostic was a Savannah State student and army veteran who was tragically killed while raising money for scholarships back in 1972.
Class is now back in session for Savannah State University. After the originally scheduled first day of classes had to be delayed by one day due to power outages on campus, students hit the classrooms Tuesday. The beginning of the fall semester also marks the first academic year at Savannah State for its new president, Dr. Jermaine Whirl.
