A New York federal judge has ruled in favor of Haitians with temporary legal status in the United States, deciding on Tuesday that the Trump administration was wrong in deciding to cut short their end date by six months.

A federal judge said the Trump administration did not give 500,000 Haitians scheduled to lose Temporary Protected Status enough notice of deportation.

A federal judge in New York on Tuesday blocked the Trump administration from ending temporary legal status for more than 500,000 Haitians who are already in the United States.
