WASHINGTON – A federal tax credit unveiled Tuesday is U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz’s latest proposal to promote school choice. His bill would provide up to $10 billion a year for a dollar-for-dollar tax credit for contributions to nonprofit organizations that grant scholarships for K-12 public and private school students.

The bill, titled the Universal School Choice Act, would provide a tax credit to match an amount donated to organizations that provide K-12 scholarships.
