Mar 1, 2018 · Recently restored 1968 Trans Am Mustang in Daytona/Sebring colors of red and black. Later in season Shelby would run cars again in yellow for awhile, to try and change their engine luck and then at end of season to Ford corporate blue to try some different “mojo”.

As for the Shelby’s team, the only races they won were the 24 Hours of Daytona in February, 1968, and Horst Kwech won at Riverside in car #17 in the next to last race of the season. The Manufacturers Trophy was already sowed up by Chevrolet.

Carroll Shelby is the only person to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans as a driver with Aston Martin in 1959, as a manufacturer with the Cobra Daytona Coupe in 1964 and as a team manager in 1966 and 1967 for the Ford GT program.
