Jan 14, 2023 · I recently inherited a project from my dad...a partially restored 1967 Ford Galaxie. The car was halfway being put back together and has no badges on it so I'm wondering what it is, a base, 500 or XL. What is the difference between the models? The car is a 2 door hard top, 3 speed automatic (C6) column shift. Bench seat, no A/C. 428 / 7 L engine.

I have read several posts about the problems of getting a 460 to set "right" in a 65-67 Galaxie, ie the motor sets too far forward and/or it sets too high. When I put the 460PI motor in my Galaxie I decided I would see what I could do to overcome these issues.

In late 1964 local assembly of the 1965 model Galaxie commenced at the Homebush assembly plant in Sydney's inner west, across the road from the site of the 2000 Olympic Games. Assembly continued at Homebush for the 1966, 1967 and 1968 models.
