Mar 12, 2021 · DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – John Greenwood’s No. 76 IMSA Corvette, which posted eye-popping speeds during the 1976 24 Hours of Le Mans, has found a new, temporary home at the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America museum.

Mar 10, 2023 · The big-block Corvettes that Greenwood fielded in IMSA with a patriotic stars-and-stripes livery got increasingly more outrageous, soon adding “widebody” flared fenders to accommodate massive rear tires.

The new IMSA Corvette was powered by the latest specification Greenwood tuned big block V8. Compared to the production 454 ZL1, the all-aluminium unit featured a slightly larger bore to bring the displacement up to 467 cu in (7,654 cc).

The flares, it almost seems silly to call them that because they were more like pods, were open at the back, venting heat and reducing lift.

Mar 5, 2024 · Arguably the most famous Greenwood Corvette, “The Spirit of Le Mans” was built prior to the 1976 season to race in IMSA and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. At Le Mans, Greenwood qualified the No. 76 Corvette ninth overall, but the car ran just 29 laps before being eliminated by a fuel leak.
