This involved placing the deceased’s bones into the log, which was then ceremonially positioned in the ground to decay over time. Once serving as ceremonial poles and coffins, these objects are now celebrated as significant art forms and celebrate the Aboriginal peoples of Arnhem Land and their resilient cultures.
